Molot APS Stechkin 9x18mm crit 2d-1 10 2 150 1600 2.7 0.7 12* 20+1 8 -2
(Avtomaticheskiy Pistolet Stechkina)
Introduced in the 1950s, the Stechkin was intended as a selective fire sidearm for tank crews, heavy weapons operators, Spetsnaz, and others who needed a weapon but not a full sized one. Expensive to produce, prone to stoppages and difficult to control when fired on automatic, the weapon proved to be something of a disappointment. Some were issued to security forces and Spetsnaz, some were passed on to Soviet clients, and most were put into storage.

Created during the siege of Lenningrad, the PPS-43 was a symbol of the siege and of that city's leadership. After the war, the Kremlin wanted the real story of Lenningrad to be forgotten. As a result, the PPS-43 was very quietly withdrawn from service and passed on to Moscow's assorted sattelites and clients.
